The Abia State Police Command has made significant strides in reducing crime in the state, parading 162 suspected criminals arrested for various offences. The suspects, including 142 males and 20 females, were displayed at the Abia Police Command headquarters alongside recovered exhibits.
SUCCESSFUL OPERATIONS:
According to Police Public Relations Officer ASP Maureen Chinaka, the Command has successfully reduced incidents of armed robbery, kidnapping, rape, vandalism, and child trafficking. The recovered exhibits include firearms, vehicles, railways sleepers, illicit drugs, and vandalized properties.
NOTABLE RECOVERIES:
Other notable recoveries include Biafran and Mozambique currency, a Police Camouflage cap, and trafficked children who were safely rescued. Many suspects have been charged and successfully prosecuted in various courts.
SUSPECTS NAMED:
Some of the suspects paraded include Innocent Nwaeze, Uchenna Nwoko, Uzoma Erondo, Chinyere Nwaja, and Benjamin Ukaegbu, among others. One suspect, Amadikwa Chigozie, confessed to stealing a motorcycle and pleaded for forgiveness.
